Remnants of Harvey to bring severe weather to Western NC.

Good Morning to everyone. I hope that your Friday is off to a good start. If you could please take a second to read this.

The remnants of what was Hurricane Harvey will be moving through central Tennessee and into Kentucky. This means we will be on the right side of its circulation.

There is a tornado risk today. A fairly moderate tornado risk. The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has issued a Enhanced risk of severe weather including Tornadoes for the Foothills and Western Piedmont areas of North Carolina... This includes - Morganton, Hickory, Taylorsville, Shelby, Gastonia, Lincolnton, Charlotte, Concord, Statesville, Mooresville, Granite Falls, Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Monroe, and others. A slight risk has been placed for Marion, Lenoir, and Rutherfordton.

The Tornado Risk is 10%.. Which is high for our area. That peaks our attention anytime it gets over 2%. Please take this threat serious. The only saving grace will be the cloud cover. If we see clearing skies or thinning of the clouds that will increase our instability. Storms start to fire after lunch and will last through the early evening. Treat any storm that you experience today like their is a potential for it to rotate.
