9:30AM Update; Multiple School Closings; Slushy Roads; Back Edge Of Precipitation Coming Through Morganton

Good Morning.  It is 9:30am

Here are reports by county:

Alexander:  Trace to 1 inch

Burke:  Trace to 1.5 inch

Caldwell:  Trace to 1.2 inches

Catawba:  Trace to 1.5 inches

Cleveland:  0 to .5 inch

Lincoln: Trace to .5 inch

McDowell:  0 to .4 inch

Rutherford:  0 - 1 inch

Our forecast looks to be in good shape.  The back edge to the steady precipitation is coming through Collettsville through Morganton through Shelby and moving East.  A few snow or rain showers are possible through about Noon. Alexander, Catawba, Lincoln and Eastern Cleveland still have one more burst of heavy snow.  Roads are melting now as well in areas where precipitation has ended.  That trend will continue through the day and temps actually could bump up into the low 40's for highs around 2:00pm. There is broken precipitationback across the SW mountains that will swing through the area but will not amount to much. We will continue to update through the early afternoon. Here is the 9:35 radar update.
