Winter Weather potential remains for parts of the weekend...

Good Thursday afternoon…we continue to monitor our next storm system that will impact the region this weekend. This storm, like the most recent one has the “potential” to produce some wintry weather in and around the Western Carolinas. A low pressure across the Midwest and Plains will slide east toward the Tennessee Valley by Saturday and then re-development is possible off the East Coast. While this is going on, a strong surface high in Southeast Canada will begin to take on a damming configuration into the region by Saturday. Its where the cold air and moisture meets that could result in multiple precipitation types as early as Saturday morning and lasting through the first half of Sunday.

There is still a lot of uncertainty as to who will get what and how much…check the graphic below for more info on what we do and do not know at this time. Also, the Winter Storm Index remains at Level 1 “Social Media Talk” at this time…Stay with Foothills Weather Network for updates as we get closer to the weekend…
