Monday Morning July 9th, 2018
Chief Meteorologist Chris White
Good Monday Morning. It feels amazing out there this morning with temps in the 50’s forecast area wide. Tropical Storm Chris has intensified overnight with winds gusting to 70mph, but he is nearly stationary. Temps today will nudge up a bit from yesterday’s high temps, but not bad for July. Highs today will be in the upper 80’s. You will also notice the humidity climbing a bit by this evening as well. Overall expect partly cloudy skies today.
Tuesday temps will climb a hair more topping out around 90° in most areas South of I-40 and in the upper 80s along and North of I-40. Expect an overall quiet day again Tuesday unless your travels take you to the mountains. Tropical Storm Chris should still be parked off the Carolina coast by Tuesday as well.
Scattered thunderstorms return to the forecast on Wednesday as a cold front moves into the area. This will be typical summertime convection it looks like with showers and storms popping up and then dying. Temps still only topping out around 90°. By Wednesday Tropical Storm Chrisnis forecast to become a hurricane but be moving Northeast away from the coast so your vacation plans are safe.
The remainder of the week looks warm but near normal with temps and your daily dose of scattered afternoon storms.
Have a great Monday!
