A New Month About to Begin, Here Comes the May Warmth

Familiar with the phrase... “April Showers brings May Flowers”?

Well, the start of May will bring more than just flowers...

High pressure aloft is developing across the Eastern US and for this time of the year it means heat is on the way.

Temperatures throughout the current forecast period looks to be running above average for the first week of May. For example, May 1st average high for Hickory is in the mid/upper 70’s. All indications are for temps to run a good 6-10 degrees above average for the next few days...

By the time we get to the weekend, a good fetch of low level moisture will slide into the Southeast US. Being that we will be on the Western periphery of the Bermuda High, a few pop up showers and storms will be introduced into the forecast.

All in all, it looks like an early preview of summer is coming!
