Hello everyone! I hope that your Tuesday is off to a good start.
We are looking at another severe weather risk today. The good thing is the threat is lower and not as widespread. Low clouds and fog will continue through the mid morning hours. We should start to see some clearing as we get into the later morning hours. An upper level low located over the deep south will continue to move through the southeast. This looks to be the main driver of severe weather for today. If we can get skies to clear, that should help add the needed instability to get thunderstorms going this afternoon. The main threat with today's storms will be the potential with large hail. The upper level low will produce cold air aloft and that could allow for some large hail. The wind threat is lower, but can't rule out an isolated damaging wind gust. Timing would be from 2 pm - 8 pm.
Calmer weather returns by Mid week, high pressure will move over the area. This will allow for sunny skies and warm temperatures. We should see highs range from the low to mid 70's.
High pressure will move off the coast Thursday evening. That will allow for a southerly flow to set up across the area. That could kick off a few showers Thursday night into Friday morning. The southerly flow will warm us into the 70's, maybe even 80 by Friday afternoon. A strong front will also be moving into the area during that time frame, so severe weather could be a concern again on Friday.
The front will stall to our south on Saturday, which should give us a partly cloudy day on Saturday with highs in the mid to upper 70's.
Sunday another system moves into the area. High pressure could dam it's way into Western North Carolina setting up a wedge. That could lead to the potential for severe weather on Sunday. The storm system will also produce some heavy rain, so we could see some flooding concerns Sunday as well.
It's been a pleasure serving you all! Have a great day!
