Daily Storm Chances on The Increase...

Good Tuesday afternoon, hope everyone is doing well...

The past 36-48 hours has been dry across the region...but that may begin to change possibly as early as later today but the real increase in storm chances across the Western Carolinas will start on Wednesday.

Looking at the synoptic players, high pressure aloft has again set up right along the East Coast of the US. The flow here across the Carolinas is veering around to the east and southeast...meanwhile a trough across the Southwest US will slowly move east into the Plains by late week...

Upper Level Weather Pattern through late week...

Moisture content in the atmosphere will increase today an tomorrow and then peak out on Friday. Precipitable Water Values will be just above normal levels for early May...

PWAT's Wednesday Morning...

PWAT's Friday Morning

The Bottom Line in all of this is that daily shower and storm chances will be on the increase. On most occasions these storms will be initiated by differential heating along the Blue Ridge...this setup is a classic slow moving, heavy rain and lightning threat.

The best storm chances right now look to fall on Friday (shocker, right?) and going into the weekend...

If you are going to be outdoors, just have a plan in place when storms approach.

Here's a look at precip potential through Saturday morning, note the highest totals being in the mountains and foothills? That is a result of where storm genesis is most likely to be. Not all places will get wet but those who do receive convection could get locally heavy amounts.
