Friday Futurecast: Cold and damp conditions return

Well, the end of the workweek is here and once again we are dealing with a cold, damp and clammy Friday across the Western Carolinas. This will make the third consecutive week that has ended on a soggy and drab note.

Showers could begin as early as the morning commute across parts of the region and from there will get progressively heavier and steadier through the day. The heaviest of the rain is expected from roughly noon until 6 pm. Moisture thanks in part to jet stream energy is overriding cold air at the surface, that will lead to plenty of clouds...

Rainfall amounts on Friday don't look to be excessive at this time but the opportunity is there for most locations to get a 1/2 inch or more. The latest short range model runs have been bullish on amounts, which has been a trend in several of the storm systems to traverse the area this autumn season...

Temperature-wise it will be a chilly day with numbers remaining in the 40's through most of the day. Friday's official recorded high will occur most likely just after 12:01 am. Normal temps for this time of the year are in the low to mid 60's, we won't come close to that on Friday, that's for sure!
