Good evening, Foothills Weather Nation! Happy Groundhog Day! In case you haven't heard the news, Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow this morning meaning an early spring. The outlook for the beginning of February is looking to validate that "forecast." We'll make this a brief summary as we all know you have a weekend to enjoy. :)
The start to our week shows a solid warming trend as the region is dominated by a building, upper level ridge. This ridge will move offshore by Monday, which will bring a slight backdoor cold front from the northeast with a chance of precipitation. This won't put much of a damper on daily highs as Tuesday promises temperatures in the upper 60's. Starting early Wednesday we will feature a rather wet cold front where we will see a slight dip in temperature to the low 60's, but back up to the mid/upper 60's for Thursday and Friday with ongoing chances of precipitation thanks to the general humidity and temperatures. Saturday into Sunday is where we begin to split hairs as a strong cold front advances in. This is our current area of concern.
So while we can expect spring like temperatures for the bulk of this week, let's not let our guard down as we know North Carolina doesn't care much for seasons, pardon summer.
Thank you very much for reading! I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday night.
