Good Tuesday everyone! I hope your day is off to a good start. We've seen widespread light rain and drizzle move into the area this morning. A cold front is tracking across Tennessee. This will push into the North Carolina Mountains by early afternoon. The front tracks through the foothills and Western Piedmont areas mid to late afternoon. While widespread thunderstorms aren't forecasted, I wouldn't be surprised for some areas to see a gusty thunderstorm move through the area. I think the areas in Rutherford, Cleveland, and Lincoln Counties have the best chance to hearing thunder. Heavy rain will also accompany the front, so widespread 1-2" of rain can be expected throughout the forecast area.
We could also see a big spread in temperatures. Highs north of Interstate 40 could remain in the 40's to 50's. Where places along the Highway 74 corridor could mange to make it into the 60's. As the cold front moves through, winds will pick up and could be pretty gusty in NW Burke, NW Caldwell, and NW McDowell.
Wednesday and Thursday look to be fairly calm as we will see mostly to partly sunny skies with highs in the upper 50's to low 60's. Lows will be in the low 30's.
Another rain maker moves into the area on Friday into Saturday. Sunday at the moment looks to be fairly decent.
Have a great day!
