HIGH IMPACT WEATHER OUTLOOK

As you have seen on our site and on social media, we are monitoring for the potential of a winter weather event next weekend across the Western Carolinas...

This is our first High Impact Weather Outlook for this possible winter storm...

We are about six days away from the event and computer model guidance continues to show the potential for a winter storm to bring different precip types to the Western Carolinas. It is way too early to come up with any snow or icing amounts due to the complex nature of the storm system. However we have come together with some general thoughts of things that we do or do not know at this point in the forecast...

Our advise to you right now is to plan for the potential of a disruptive weather event come next weekend. Preparations may include the following things...

* - Updating Emergency Supply Kits (food, water, medicine, blankets, cash money)

*- Having alternative methods of heating and cooking due to potential power outages

* -Possible disruption of utilities including cell phone service

It's never too early to think about how a winter storm could interfere with your daily activities. It is always good to prepare for the worst instead of being under-prepared.

With this said, our Winter Storm Index will be introduced for the first time this winter season, as of tonight we are placing it at Level 1 "Social Media Talk". Please do not panic or get caught into the social media hype at this time. Just take the proper steps over the next few days to be ready for a widespread weather event...

Our next High Impact Winter Outlook will be released on Monday evening...
