New Year, Same Story

Happy 2019 everyone! I hope that you had a fun and safe New Years Eve.

The first day of 2019 will feel more like April 1st than January 1st. A cold front will slowly move through the area. Ahead of the front will be warm moist air. Most locations outside of the mountains will make a run into the low to mid 60's. Maybe one or two spots will push 70 F.

A cold front sags south of us tonight. That will allow high pressure to briefly build in. Lows tonight will be in low to mid 40's.

Wednesday starts off nice, but clouds will be on the increase through out the day. We will start to bump precipitation chances up early Wednesday evening.

Another large storm system is set to push into the area Thursday and Friday. A low pressure will bring another dose of heavy rain into the area. Another 1-3" of rain is possible over the Foothills and Western Piedmont of North Carolina.

Concern is growing that we could see another flood event evolve Thursday night into Friday.

The latest data shows that 1" of rain in one hour would prompt Flash Flooding.

3" of rain in 3 hours would also prompt flash flooding.

A Flood Watch may be issued over the next 12 -24 hours.

But all of this rain should move out and provide for finally a beautiful and dry weekend!

Sunny skies and highs near 60!

Have a great day!
