Good Monday everyone!
I hope you had a great weekend! It was prefect weather wise with another dry weekend. Temperatures warmed into the low 70's on Sunday.
As we start off the new work week. We watch a strong cold front that is poised to move through the area this afternoon into early evening. Ahead of the front we should see mostly cloudy skies, but a few peeks of sunshine isn't out of the question. Temperatures will be mild as we warm into the mid to upper 60's. The latest hi res data shows the line of showers and storms moving into the foothills between 3-5 pm. These storms could produce some heavy rain, gusty winds, and maybe some lightning. It should start between 4-6 pm in our southern Piedmont communities.
After the cold front passage this evening we will see high pressure move over the Northeast. This will set up daming against the mountains. So expect to see mainly cloudy skies with lows in the low to mid 40's. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a little left over moisture to create some fog or mist in the up sloped favored areas in Burke, McDowell, and Caldwell Counties.
Tuesday, we be fairly cloudy through a good portion of the day, as we remained wedged in. A few morning showers and fog will be possible in the Foothill locations of our forecast area. Gradual clearing skies will take place Tuesday afternoon. Highs will top out in the low to mid 50's.
We start a warming trend as high pressure begins to move east. That will allow for a warmer flow to set up across the area. Wednesday highs will be around 60, Thursday highs in the low to mid 60's and by Friday we should push 70 area wide, under mostly sunny skies.
As we look into the weekend, an approaching cold front will bring warm temperatures and a little bit of humidity into the area Saturday. The frontal passage will bring some showers and maybe a rumble of thunder Saturday night into Sunday. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60's.
Have a wonderful day!
