The Week Ahead: Spring Warmth Returning to the Region...

Happy Easter Sunday to everyone...

Today is going to be a nice day overall, maybe a bit cool but still nice. Scattered clouds will remain across the region today as we still have some cold air aloft on the back side of the massive upper low that has affected the region since Friday.

Good news is that spring warmth should return to the Carolinas as early as Monday when high temps should reach the 70’s and by Tuesday high 70’s and a few local 80 degree readings are possible. At the upper levels, a weak ridge should develop allowing the warmth, meanwhile an upper low in the four corners region will bring a return to storminess to areas of Texas and the Southern Plains.

By Thursday that upper feature in the Plains will kick east allowing moisture to return to the Southeast.

The good news with this storm system is that...

1. It will take a more southern route keeping the best dynamics along the Gulf Coast Region.

2. It will weaken in strength as it moves east.

Even with a weaker upper level system, the lower heights across the Southeast will be sufficient enough for garden variety shower and storm activity beginning as early as late Thursday and spilling over into Friday.

So overall, not a bad weather pattern in the short term. It will be the latter end of the current 7-Day forecast where some unsettled weather may return.
