Good evening. I will spare you a lot of reading this evening and just say the forecast looks right on track. This update does include our last update for our accumulation snow and ice across the area.
This storm is going to last about 24-36 hours once starting. Start time has moved up a bit to between Noon and 4:00pm. The initial band of precipitation will evaporate before reaching the ground and through evaporational cooling the atmosphere will cool down. This will turn the precipitation to mostly a snow/sleet event along I-40 and then a snow/sleet/freezing rain mix between I-40 and I-85. Concern of a extensive freezing rain event along that I-74 and I-85 corridor.
Monitor our weather chat on the website and we will be updating through the night there. The upper level low moves through on Monday producing more light snow over the area and could add another inch or two to the totals.
