Another disturbance building in the tropics...could it impact parts of the US?

We are still a full week from the beginning of the Atlantic Hurricane Season but the tropics are already primed up and ready to go…

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a disturbance located just off the coast of Belize, at this time it is unorganized but that could change down the road…

The NHC currently has this disturbance at a 40% chance of organizing into a tropical cyclone over the next five days. Also, the area has been declared an “invest” which allow hurricane guidance to be initiated for the system and through the next five days the hurricane models are in sync with the global models of a gradual northward movement into the Eastern Gulf of Mexico for the Memorial Day Weekend…that would once again send a plume of tropical moisture northward through the Florida Peninsula and toward the Southeast US.

At this time there is a lot of uncertainty in the impact this feature could have on our part of the world…keep an eye on future forecasts and updates here at our website…
